Eric Sorlin (b. 1966, Paris, France) is a black-and-white photographer whose work reflects a life shaped by global movement and cultural intersection. Shortly after his birth, Eric relocated to West Africa, where his father worked as a geophysicist in Gabon. Raised across Central Africa, including Cameroon, his early environment profoundly informed his visual sensibility.
Eric began photographing at the age of ten after receiving a Rollei 35-T film camera, a tool he still uses today. Working exclusively in black and white, his practice explores both urban and rural landscapes, emphasizing balance, rhythm, and the subtle tension between stillness and motion. His images transform the everyday into compositions that are at once quiet, deliberate, and emotionally resonant.
Now based in the United States and an American citizen, Eric's work is informed by decades of observation and travel. His street photographs reflect a timeless approach, marked by careful composition and an intuitive responsiveness to place, resulting in imagery that is both restrained and deeply evocative.
